PHYS 30201 Mathematical fundamentals of quantum mechanics

Examples

This course will be covered in the "A" examples classes for third-year core. The classes alternate between quantum mechanics (both this course and Applications of Quantum Physics) and Intro to Nuclear and Particle Physics, with week 3 covering revision material for all three courses, and weeks 4, 7, 9 and 11 covering quantum.

These examples classes are not like first-year workshops; they are more like tutorials for which you do work in advance. There is more on each sheet than can be covered in a one-hour class, so it is important that you work on them in their own time. If you do this ahead of each class, you will know which questions you want to ask the tutors about. Working together is encouraged!

Examples 1 is revision of ideas on vector spaces. This is the basic mathematical language we shall be using throughout this course, so it is important that you start work on this sheet as soon as possible. Examples 1 for Applications of Quantum Physics revises basic ideas of quantum mechanics from last year. You should work on this for the revision class in week 3.

The exmples sheets will be posted here, as well as being available on Blackboard. Solutions will be issued after the corresponding classes.
