Question 1

A rigid body consists of two particles of mass $m$ fixed to the ends of a massless rod of length $2 l$. The rod is inclined at an angle $\theta$ to the vertical and rotates with constant angular velocity $\omega$about a vertical axis through its midpoint.

(a) Find the angular momentum of the body.

(b) Find the torque on the body needed to maintain this rotation.
