Early in World War I, a naval engagement took place near the
Falkland Islands. During it the British gunners were surprised to see their
accurately aimed salvos falling 100 yards to the left of the German ships.
Suggest a reason for this. Back up your suggestion with a rough
order-of-magnitude calculation.
