Mike Godfrey
Mike graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1983. In
his PhD work at the Cavendish laboratory he developed a local theory
of stresses in solids and investigated the role of stress in
determining surface reconstruction. During 1988-90 he was a PDRA in
the Physics Department at the University of Warwick and worked on
strongly correlated electronic systems, including the superconducting
lanthanum cuprates. Since his appointment to a lectureship
in 1990 he has investigated many body effects in semiconductor
heterostructures using Green's function methods and developments of
local density functional theory.
